Sammy was born a tiny miracle— very tiny! To our surprise, he was born an IUGR baby at a whopping 2 lb 14 oz. That put him at the 0.01 percentile for his gestational age— little peanut barely made the chart. Unfortunately it also put us in the NICU for at least another month, so that he can consistently feed, grow & take care of the parts that lost proper blood flow.

Before he made his entrance on 4/20, mom went in for a routine visit and found she had no fluid left. The placenta had stopped doing its job. Many nurses and doctors told us we were on borrowed time. God surely had His hand on all of us and continues to hear our prayers. Please keep them coming!

So far he’s doing great, we have a mighty fighter! Sammy will grow to be a healthy, happy baby. But until we get home, our family will be split up, driving back and forth from Evergreen to Aurora, and finding our new normal living the hospital life.

If you were introduced to this page, you mostly likely have already asked how to help. Thank you for being here! All we ask is that it stays within our group of friends + family, and off of social media as we navigate this time as a family. We thought a fun way to help support would be for Aunt Caylee to make up some donation based t-shirts, that way you can give as much as you feel called. All the proceeds will help our travel needs & other expenses during Sammy’s NICU stay. Anything we don’t end up using we would like to give back to Children’s Hospital who have taken such great care of our baby BOY!

You & your kiddos can support us from afar by rocking your Team Sammy shirt, starting at $30. Once you donate, please email Poppy Grace Boutique at Shoppoppygraceboutique@gmail.com with your shirt size(s) to receive your TINY MIRACLES T-shirt.

Hi everyone! I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve provided an update on Sammy. After spending a total of 51 days in the NICU, we brought baby boy home on June 10th. At first, it felt like baptism by fire with a huge learning curve on tube feeding, administering medications, and life in general with 3 children, but now it’s become second nature. His big sisters absolutely adore him, and often arguing on who gets to snuggle him, as if he doesn’t have two sides 🤭 He really has been thriving at home!

He’s almost 9 lbs, working on rolling over, getting really good at tummy time despite the gtube set back, talking and making the sweetest baby sounds. He even latched and nursed for the first time! We will have another swallow study in August to see if he’s still aspirating, but until then we’ll keep practicing with boobie and bottle.

We are going to A LOT of appointments— special care clinic, gtube clinic, cardiology, pulmonary, GI clinic, OT/speech, endocrinology…. It seems like the list keeps getting longer. But once again, I find myself grateful for such a wonderful team behind Sammy!

Other news to share is that I am completing a parent CNA program which will allow me to get hired on by our home healthcare company and get compensated for the work I’m already doing. It’s really quite amazing! Otherwise, we would have the option to hire a home health nurse. We will be starting some of his therapies in home soon too.

I want to thank you all again for your support, for always checking in, and for your continued prayers. It seems like God has heard and many have been answered! Bringing him home has been the biggest one 🙌🏼

All my love,

Lindsey & fam
