Hello! My name is Luke, I'm 31 years old and my cat, Ninja and I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And I'm here to start a fundraiser for Ninja's surgery.
Meet Ninja,

About a year ago, I found Ninja in the middle of the road when he was a 5 week old kitten. I was sitting at a red light when I saw a tiny kitten stumble across the intersection towards my car. He looked very scared so he ran to hide underneath my vehicle. I quickly got out and saw an innocent little black kitten hiding next to my tire. Without consideration, I picked him up and brought him inside the car to safety. I could hold him in the palm of my hand he was so tiny. (You can see pictures on Instagram) He wasn't visibly injured so I decided to bring him home to feed him. After a week of failing to find his owner, I made the choice to keep him. And that was the best decision I could've made because having Ninja this past year has been the most unexpected joy to my life. He has an extremely fun and wild personality that never stops entertaining. He got his name, Ninja, because he loves to run, jump, and climb on anything he can. Until now, that's what brings me here.
Recently, Ninja tried jumping from the top of his cat tree onto the tile floor and injured his leg. I immediately knew something was wrong because he let out a screeching cry, limped a couple of steps and laid down. He started hissing at me when I got near him indicating he's in a lot of pain. So I wrapped Ninja in a blanket and carefully brought him to an animal hospital. The vet had to give Ninja a double dose of sedatives to calm him down so they could perform the X-rays. We ultimately found out that Ninja had fractured his leg. The bone that connects his leg to his hip had snapped and would require metal rods to reconnect them so Ninja can properly heal.
This is the worst case scenario for us because the costs of surgeries, medications, and X-ray exams, I simply cannot afford right now. The reason why I can't afford these costs is because I lost my job right before this happened. I was living paycheck to paycheck to pay my bills and Ninja getting hurt like this could not have happened at worse time. I've already started selling any semi-valuable things I own to go towards Ninja's surgery. But it's nowhere near enough to cover his medical bills and keep a roof over our heads. His hospital visit alone was a big financial setback.
I would do anything for the little guy, and it breaks my heart to see him suffering like this. His bubbly personality has dwindled down because he can't play around like he's use to. He spends most the day laying down because it hurts him to stand up and put any pressure on his left leg.
I really want to get this surgery for him so we can start the recovery process and go back to his fun and energetic self. I know Ninja will be much happier too.
Finally, I just want to say thank you for reading this. I sincerely appreciate it. To be honest I'm usually not the type of person to ask for help but this is kind of my last resort. My vet said the other option was to amputate his leg which I really really don't want to do. I know cats can have a happy life after an amputation but I think it would be a disservice to Ninja if I didn't try everything I can to fix his leg before considering that option.
If you choose to donate any amount it's greatly appreciated. Your help will go directly to veterinary costs which will include X-ray exams, 2 surgeries, 8-12 weeks of medications, and any other post-surgery checkups or tests they need to run.
If you want to follow Ninja's recovery journey on his Instagram it's @mycat_Ninja or if you just want to see cute cat pics and videos that works too. Thanks again for your time.
Have a great day!
-Luke
