Growing up in Chloe, West Virginia, was tough, with an alcoholic father and a mother who worked tirelessly at three jobs to support my brothers and me. Though she was absent much of the time, I know she did her best. Still, our home was filled with the shadows of mental health struggles like depression, ADHD, and PTSD. These burdens followed me into adulthood, leading to poor choices and time in prison. But now, more than ever, I am determined to turn my life around, especially for my two beautiful children who are my greatest hope and inspiration. They were adopted by family and reuniting with them remains my guiding light.
Life's challenges seem never-ending. A recent car accident has left me with both physical and emotional scars, having undergone four reconstructive surgeries on my face. Living without teeth for months has taken a profound toll on my self-esteem. Yet, each day, I remind myself to remain grateful and humble despite having a limited support system. My home, too, faces its own struggles with black mold, a failing roof, and unreliable water making life harder. Amidst this, my four loving dogs offer companionship and joy.
Achieving a stable life seems daunting, but with help, I believe it's possible to rebuild not just my home, but my future. I dream of a day when I can welcome my children back into a warm, loving environment. Your support would be a step towards making that dream a reality, nurturing both my health and a home filled with hope.
