On Saturday, April 13, 2024, the Miami-Dade community will celebrate the life and legacy of my wife Nancy Ancrum, former editorial page editor at the Miami Herald. Nancy passed away February 9, three weeks after retirement from a storied 40-year career at the Herald.
The celebration at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.), a place she loved, is open to the public.
So many of you have asked how you might honor her. A bench for rest, contemplation, and meditation, will be dedicated at Fairchild in Nancy’s memory. The cost of the bench and accompanying plaque is $7,500.
To the many family, friends, colleagues and members of the Miami-Dade community who found your way here, thank you for honoring Nancy and for your contribution to this enduring tribute.
Now that our original funding goal has been met, the additional funds will serve Fairchild’s extraordinary programming, particularly their butterfly habitats. Please come visit!
