My name is Katrice Lewis, founder and owner of Kreole Kreationz Food Truck & Catering, a family-owned Creole/Cajun business serving the North Texas community.
I am a 7-year breast cancer survivor.
On October 1, 2019, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy following my breast cancer diagnosis. Just four months later, on February 1, 2020, my daughter Kali and I started Kreole Kreationz.
We built our business together from the ground up during one of the most challenging chapters of my life. We did not have outside financial assistance or a large financial backer. Through faith, determination, hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance, my daughter and I continued moving forward and built a business that has become a meaningful part of our lives.
Five years ago, my daughter Kali also created our signature homemade fresh-fruit lemonade, now available in eight flavors. Together, we have continued to build, create, and grow through family, food, entrepreneurship, and community.
MY FIRST CELEBRATION OF SURVIVAL
There is something very personal I want to share about this event.
In seven years, I have never celebrated my survival.
I have spent years moving forward, building my business, taking care of my family, and simply being grateful to still be here.
But this year, I decided that I want to stop and celebrate.
Not just for myself.
I want to celebrate with the women who have walked in my shoes.
Women who have heard the words “you have breast cancer.”
Women who have faced surgery.
Women who have looked in the mirror and had to learn to see themselves differently.
Women who have experienced fear, uncertainty, strength, hope, and everything in between.
I want them to know that they don’t have to walk this journey alone.
STILL STANDING
That is why my daughter and I are creating Still Standing: A Breast Cancer Survivor Celebration & Fundraising Event.
This will be my first celebration of my own survival, but I don’t want it to be centered around me.
I want it to be a celebration of US.
We’re aiming to host this event October 24, 2026
