Living in Denver has been incredibly challenging since COVID hit. I contracted the virus early on during a business trip to China and faced severe complications. Infections, cellulitis, and MRSA led to the amputation of over half of each foot, and the journey has been painful and disheartening. I used to run a tee shirt business, helping non-profits with discounted products, and was excited to start MAD4HATS and Screamin Tees. But everything changed; I found myself homeless and struggling in the streets after being discharged from the hospital with nowhere to go.
I've faced scams, including losing my startup funds to someone I trusted. The struggle isn't just physical but emotional. The homelessness issue in Denver is dire, and many face frostbite amputations each year. It’s heartbreaking, and it motivates me to start producing Survival Care Packs. These packs will provide essentials like gloves, socks, blankets, and more to those in need. I’m partnering with local businesses to fund this initiative and have plans for an entertainment coupon book to further support it.
A crucial aspect of my recovery is a service dog to help with depression, which requires significant funds. With your support, we can build something impactful, raise awareness about homelessness, and ensure others don’t suffer as I did. I hope to share these stories through a documentary and a book, enlightening others on the urgent need for resources and compassion in our community.
