Let us introduce you to Aiden. Aiden is an incredible human, a wonderful son, a loving brother, a loyal friend, and an awesome student! He is a happy, active 12 year old boy, football is life! Aiden is a lover of all animals, fishing, hunting, and playing his xbox. He collects Pokemon cards and knives and is always proud to show them off to visitors! He is kind, respectful, and always willing to lend a hand.

Unfortunately, Aiden was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. This has been a difficult diagnosis, especially because as of right now, we have more questions than answers. What we do know is that Aiden has a 2.7cm tumor in a difficult location within the brain, and it is affecting several important components. We know that it was present and missed on a CT scan from 2 years ago when it was much smaller in size. Aiden has some calcification on his brain from his body trying to kill this tumor. His hypothalamus and pituitary stalk are no longer visible due to this mass. His optic chiasm is displaced and encompassed by the tumor. His optic tracts and mammillary bodies are displaced. Aiden's tumor is extending either into or from the recesses of the third ventricle. It is also snuggled up tightly to the main arteries in his brain.

The tumor board at Children's of Alabama met and discussed Aiden's case, but no-one could agree on the exact type of tumor nor a treatment plan. We have met with the Endocrinologist and Neuro-Oncology. Aiden's growth hormones are almost nonexistent despite being in active puberty, this is due to the pituitary stalk being encompassed. We are awaiting his tumor marker results from his spinal tap and hope to have an official diagnosis (tumor type), and a plan of action for treatment once those are received.

The outpouring of love and support for our sweet Aiden has been overwhelming but so very appreciated! Aiden's Dad and I are very proud people and it is difficult to be in a position where we need outside support of every kind. First and foremost, we need prayers. Prayers will go further than any dollar will, please keep Aiden and our family in your prayers! So many of you have reached out and asked us how or where you can donate monetarily or have asked us to create a fundraiser, so here we are.

I am currently not working, as we have been making multiple trips to the hospital each week and my current line of work requires daily attendance and more time than I have available right now. My husband's company also had a reduction in workforce in the midst of all of this and he was laid off and we lost our insurance. Luckily, he should be starting a new job next week. We are awaiting temporary insurance for Aiden, but in the meantime the medical bills have begun rolling in. We have no idea what kind of cost we are looking at overall, but we wanted to start somewhere for those of you who have been asking.

We are so grateful for the support whether it be prayer, a donation, a share of this fundraiser, or just some words of encouragement. Aiden knowing he has such a wonderful, large support system who love him will help him along this journey.

Aiden has been so positive through all of this and has probably handled it better than any of us. He has been so concerned about how we are all doing with his diagnosis. He is worried about his sister and his best friend who have both taken this news hard. He is worried about his Dad and I. He is such a compassionate and empathetic human. I do not know a boy with a kinder heart. He has even asked me about continuing to fundraise annually for brain cancer and tumor research, and to help other children and families in need. We intend to do just that. His story and many others will be a beautiful testimony. He is truly an incredible human!

Thank you all for the outpouring of love and support, and for taking the time to get to know a little about our sweet Aiden. We will post updates as we learn more. We can't wait to share his story of victory and triumph!

This too shall pass.

UPDATE ON AIDEN AS OF 3.12.24

Firstly, Thank you all for the continued prayers, love, and support!! We know everyone has been waiting for an update, but we haven’t had one prior to now.

It has been a very long week of appointments at St. Jude’s and hours upon hours of research.

Let’s start with the positive… Aiden is feeling good! He is home and at school!!! 🥰 Praise God!!! We had over 12 hours of appointments this week and received A LOT of information. St. Jude’s is a phenomenal hospital! It is like a little world of it’s own! It was a little overwhelming, but incredible!

What we know…

Aiden has grade 1/stage 1 brain cancer. His tumor type belongs to a “family” of the most common tumor type (though brain tumors are rare among children). We are thanking God that this was found now, because as this type of cancer advances, the outlook is much more bleak. The biggest concern with Aiden’s tumor is location and size, and the two cell mutations they found within his tumor. Aiden’s primary mutation has been known to be treatment resistant, and both mutations unfortunately drive the rapid overproduction of these cells. This means his current tumor and cancer are constantly being fed and he is also at risk for additional tumors in his brain and spine. This tumor is in a very delicate part of the brain, the “circuit board” of his brain. Location and size are a big issue. This tumor does not need to get any larger.

We have been offered two treatment options, targeted radiation and targeted chemotherapy, both of which have pros and cons. The biggest kicker being, he can only have the radiation once in his entire life. He can have one round, one time in his life and we won’t actually know if it is truly successful for years. 😮‍💨 56% of people receiving this treatment are still living after 3 years. Those odds are a little more favorable than the other treatment option. We have researched and researched and researched. We have prayed and prayed and prayed. It seems like an impossible decision, but one we have to make… soon.

Once a decision is made, the process will begin and treatment will start almost immediately. It takes roughly 7-10 days to prep everything and get his workup done.

Aiden is still in wonderful spirits! He is an incredible human! 🥰 Please continue to pray for our sweet Aiden, as well as our family! & Please forgive us if we are slow to respond to messages and calls. We love and appreciate all of you! Thank you! ❤️

Aiden has been doing so good! He still has periodic dizziness and gets tired out easily, but he is doing great!

He has officially been accepted into St. Jude’s!!!! We should have an appointment date set with the Radiation Oncologist before the week is out. We will speak with several Oncologists at St.Jude’s regarding what treatments are available for Aiden’s specific cancer mutation. In the meantime, he is fishing as much as he can before we head back to Memphis next week for appointments! ❤️🥰

UPDATE ON AIDEN

Aiden has been doing well over all!! He is SO STRONG!! 💪🏻🥰

We enjoyed a few calm days at home and a visit to his friends and teachers at school, before we had to return to Memphis. We met with Aiden’s Neurosurgeon yesterday and this is the latest…

Aiden’s incision is healing beautifully & his hydrocephalus has cleared up!!! GOD IS GOOD 🙌🏻
Aiden is still experiencing A LOT of dizziness from the damage done by the hemorrhage, which unfortunately can take 2-6 months to get better. We are so grateful for the wheelchair a kind soul purchased for him, it has been a HUGE help in getting him out and about! ♥️

We had hoped to come back to Memphis to receive his full pathology report, but unfortunately there were no common mutations that hit on the first pass. St. Jude’s is going to run what is called ClinGen testing on the remaining sample from his biopsy. The ClinGen testing requires special consent and takes upwards of 3 weeks to come back, but it is very in depth. In the meantime we are being accepted by St.Jude’s through Radiation Oncology to discuss treatment options. Over the next few weeks we will meet with several different Oncologists and we will be presented with 3 treatment options, all of which have their own pros and cons. We will then have to decide which treatment option we will begin with, what we feel is best for Aiden.

We are headed back to Alabama today, until we get the call from St. Jude’s for our appointments. Going to get this boy out on the water to catch some fish!!! We only went to Bass Pro TWICE in the last 24 hour😅 Sister got to go this time though!!! ♥️

This will be a long, hard road for our sweet Aiden, but we are ready to fight this fight with him!! He is the sweetest, kindest, most wonderful, God fearing, God loving boy!! He is going to have a beautiful testimony to share with the world!! Please continue to pray for Aiden and our little family! We love you and thank God for every one of you!!! ♥️
