Hi, my name is David and my family has an emergency plumbing issue we could really use help with. My wife and I relocated from Eastern Washington and bought our home back in 2018 to get our son, recently turned 29, out of the terrible air quality of Eastern WA wildfires and closer to specialists who can better support him with his asthma, allergies and autism. After we moved here, we found out our daughter, 26 (27 in May), has Graves' Disease and as a result had to undergo a total thyroidectomy following the COVID-19 pandemic. Since neither of our children are currently employed, and my wife had to retire early to help support our family, I am the main financial earner in our home.
On March 10, we had a plumber come out to see why we were having backflow issues into our bathtub and issues flushing our toilet. We originally thought there were tree roots growing into the plumbing lines, but to our dismay we were told it was something different; after running a camera through the lines, they determined there are at least one major break and several smaller breaks which are possibly related to the age of the property (built 1977). The city came out today (March 16, 2026) to tell us where the septic hooks up are at and indicated that no major plumbing work appears to have been done so these are likely to be the original lines. So far all we know is that the pipes absolutely need to be replaced which will require extensive trench digging which means a lot of time and money.
I still work full time at 69, turning 70 in August. Some friends have generously donated their time to help locate pipes and start trenches, but this is a job that needs to be finished by professionals — and quickly! We’re hoping to raise $12,500 to get started on the repairs. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. We’d be incredibly grateful for any donation and for sharing our story to help us tackle these Emergency Plumbing Repairs.
