Hey everyone, my name is Izhar Ramos and I'm 28 years young. I have a daughter and live at home with my mother who has been very supportive. I was shot in the head in 2015 and recovery will be a long process, but I am here. I am a wheelchair user and decided to stop going to physical therapy to continue my education. My dream has always been to do computer networking, and this incident has pushed me to go for it. I am currently going to college and work hard by using the supports available to me so that I can graduate. A big challenge has been the wheelchair I am using, which is manual and can be hard for me when trying to get around. Another challenge is my housing situation which is not ideal for a wheelchair user, as space is very limited.
Today I have a big Goal for my daughter, for my family and for myself. There are a few things that would really go a long way in helping me and my family. Because I experience a lot of pain throughout the day, it would be more comfortable if I had an electronic wheelchair to help me get around. It would also be helpful if we were to live in a bigger home where I could use an electronic wheelchair and not have to depend on others for help in moving around my home. I just want to do something positive and help my mom because I know she works so hard day and night, and has been very supportive.
