Charlie is a 7 year old pug. He is a fierce protector with a keen sense of observation. I am a single mom of a now 13 year old son. When I initially got Charlie, I got him as a therapy dog for my son who is on the autism spectrum and was only 6 at the time. I soon realized that he was everybody’s therapy dog. He takes his job very seriously and sleeps with “his boy” every night. Charlie was born special, with both female and male parts. When he was a puppy the vet removed his testes (which were internal not external) and his fully intact uterus too! He had no problems for many years after, until this last year. He started having back to back Urinary tract infections. The vets now say, due to his anatomy, bacteria is being held in his urethra and creating infections. He’s been on 7 rounds of antibiotics almost non-stop this year. The only solution is surgery to correct his anatomy. This surgery is extensive and expensive, costing $7,000! Also no local vet does this very special operation, the closest vet would be Poulsbo or Tacoma. Obviously as a single parent on a single income, I do not have near enough money for this kind of cost. I have been covering his frequent vet bills and antibiotics for months which have totaled in the thousands, and this is why I am reaching out for help. Charlie should have many years left with his boy and our family, and left untreated this will eventually kill him. If you cannot donate please share far and wide so we can get him the help he needs.
