Alex Julson is a single mom of 2 beautiful daughters: Alissa (16) and Lillian (13). Their family needs to vacate their rental by September 1, 2021 and they’re looking for their first and forever home. Alex and the girls have lived in their current apartment for 4 years. Mom has been sleeping in the living room so the girls could have a bedroom. The rent has been high in relation to Alex’s salary (unfortunately, market rate for our area), and would increase to a completely unaffordable amount if she were to stay. Even though homes are selling for more these days, Alex is targeting homes in an affordable area and her monthly mortgage payments would be way more affordable per month than rent has been. Her challenge is the downpayment.
Anybody who knows Alex knows she’s a devoted volunteer and youth advocate (for Hudson Valley nonprofits like My Kingston Kids, Harambee, Hudson Valley Foundation for Youth Health, Good Beyond Greatness, and Circle Creative). She makes herself available at all hours, 24/7 for troubled children and teens. I hope, like me, you’d like to see some of that devotion returned. Let’s help Alex with that downpayment.
She’s looking to keep her daughters in the Walkill school district. She is preapproved for an FHA home of $250,000, which requires a 3.5% down payment ($7,000). Alex’s preapproval is active until August 30. If this goal isn’t made, Alex plans to allocate whatever gifts are received toward an affordable housing alternative. She HAS to vacate her small, expensive apartment by September 1. God Bless and thank you in advance.
