Your Support Means Everything
My Story
Hello everyone,
My name is April Woodard. I am reaching out for help after a devastating fire destroyed my home and left me with nothing on December 31st. Thanks to my caregiver’s bravery, I was rescued from the flames—an act that saved my life and for which I am deeply grateful. As a result of the fire, I sustained burns on my chin, both arms, my left breast, and my stomach, adding to the physical and emotional toll of this tragedy.
Living with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, I rely on an electric wheelchair to move through the world. I am also battling lupus, mixed connective tissue disease and rheumatoid arthritis—conditions that require constant medical care and make daily life more challenging. Losing my home has made these struggles even harder, and I am now facing the overwhelming task of rebuilding my life and securing the care and equipment I need.
Why I Need Your Help
This tragedy has left me without accessible shelter, clothing and other items, right now essential medical supplies, and vital treatments for my conditions. I lost manual wheelchairs, folding electric wheelchair, my electric bath tub chair, electric bed. I lost everything! In addition, I am now coping with burn injuries that require specialized care and ongoing treatment. Any donation—no matter the size—will help me find a safe place to live, replace my specialized equipment, and cover medical expenses during this incredibly tough time.
