Urgent Help Needed for Karen Childress

It is with a broken heart that last night, I held the hand of my wonderful best friend and wife of 21 years as she gained her angel wings. She was an organ and tissue donor as we both are on the registry. Because of her gifts, many people will have another chance to live. She was a wonderful, giving person who was and is loved by many people. Until we meet again. I love you. Go be with your mom and your babies

From Kim: It is with a heavy heart that I am updating Karen's condition. The hospital was finally able to do another head CT. She has an hemorrhagic stroke that is actively bleeding. I am abiding by her wishes that she not be kept alive by artificial means. She is an organ donor, which we both believe in helping those in need. She has been transferred to the UK Albert B. Chandler Medical Center. To those of you who prayed and donated financial support we thank you so much. She loved you all.  Please continue to pray for our family, especially the grandkids

• Ok. Last night was challenging. In an attempt to try to gage her neurological status, they changed one of her pain medication that was providing sedation. The medication that they changed her to didn't provide enough sedation. Her blood pressure dropped way down and it took some time to get it regulated, which it now. About 8pm she started really breathing extra breaths or what is called breath stacking.  They put her back on the previous pain medication and raised the amount of oxygen she was getting to get her more comfortable. Her o2 sat is within  normal limits at the moment. She is still very, very sick and it will take some time to recover. Please continue to pray for her and our family. Update on Karen-she is still very ill and needing to be on the ventilator. They no longer have her on the paralytic, but still heavily sedated so her lungs have the chance to heal and to keep her from trying to breathe over the vent. She has developed an infection which is being treated with antibiotics. The doctor wants to get another CT scan when she is a more stable to check for any damage the mini strokes caused. Thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts.  She is still very critical and has a long recovery ahead.
