I wish we had better news and more to smile about ...

It has been and continues to be a heartbreaking daily grind for our Katie (KEL) to find her way after over a yearlong battle with cancer ... she continued to work while enduring radiation but had to stop working over a year ago during her chemo and then surgery (Jan. 2024).  Her body is still fighting her and not allowing her to resume any type of "normal" life, much less begin work of some sort.  (Sadly, we don't expect that she will ever be able to return to her business and first love, Up North Farrier).  As if this all is not enough to bear, she is still awaiting a case manager for her third appeal to social security for disability!

Everyone we know and even those we don't know personally have been so supportive and generous through our various platforms to raise funds for Katie.  We appreciate anything you can do to help and most importantly, please continue to pray for our girl that life will treat her kinder and allow her to live the full life anyone would wish for their child, grandchild, sibling or friend.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

It has been a long time since we have updated everyone on Katie's progress ... it has now been nearly 7 weeks since her surgery in Boston.

It has been an extremely difficult time for our poor Katie - three trips to the ER with the last one resulting in an ambulance transfer from Maine back to Boston.  Doctors identified a very serious, highly contagious infection (brought on by multiple antibiotics used to treat several other infections she had suffered since the surgery).  The following days took a tremendous toll on Katie both emotionally and physically.  Again, she had to endure another 7+ hour ride home laying in the back of my car.

Since then, Katie continues to struggle day to day.  We were hoping that after six weeks Katie's "new normal" way of life would become more manageable ... unfortunately,  that is not the case.

We need to again ask for continued support to get Katie to where she needs to be.  She desperately wants to begin physical therapy so she can get strong enough to reestablish her business and begin to support herself again but that time is still months away.

We are incredibly grateful for all the prayers and support Katie has received thus far ... there is no one who wants to regain her life and be able to take care of herself than our Katie.

Thank you and God bless!

Day 3 after surgery and her wonderful fleet of nurses are trying to help her manage the pain.  Katie is tougher than many but its been hard.  We are hopeful she will meet the criteria in the next day or two for discharge.  After that, we face a 7+ hour drive back to her home in northern Maine if the weather cooperates.

Continued good thoughts are appreciated  ...  difficult to see such a young and vibrant person down.

Thank you for your support from the bottom of our hearts!!!
