Lamar Community College (LCC), nestled in Lamar, Colorado, is a designated Hispanic Serving Institution standing as a beacon of learning for local, nationwide, and international students. Approximately 52 percent of LCC students face food insecurity daily, making it challenging for them to focus on their studies.
LCC has taken a proactive step to address this critical issue by establishing an expanded food pantry on campus. The impact of this initiative is evident in the staggering increase in usage, with nearly 1,000 visits by 224 unique students in the current academic year alone - a sharp rise from approximately 330 visits in 2023.
