Thoughts at the end of a pilgrimage

I am home now! I walked 260kms from Porto to Santiago de Compostela. I feel proud of my achievement because as a person with Parkinsons (they call us PWP’s) you lose confidence in the ability of your body to do what you took for granted. I always loved walking and had walked long distances before, but never since having PD. I didn’t know if I could do it – and at times when it was hard I asked myself “What was I thinking?!” But one reason I kept going was to honor the pledges of money from all my donors. I couldn’t let you down even if it was hard. So, thank you all for walking with me and being the invisible hand behind my back pushing me up the hills! It has taken me a week to recover my energy and strength. I was super tired after the walk!

To anyone who is thinking of doing a pilgrimage, I say do it! The rewards are many and you will meet wonderful, interesting people and feel great at the end of it.

I am still getting some more donations after meeting my fundraising goal – which is awesome so I am not yet closing this fundraiser...

This is one of the beautiful places I saw on the Way, setting out before sunrise from a monastery where I spent the night.

It's impossible to get lost on the Camino! There are shells and yellow arrows all along the route. Pilgrims leave pictures of their loved ones or other momentos as you can see to my right.

A big thank you to my recent donors!!!!

Please share my fundraiser with anyone who might be interested!!!
