I got diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer just a year after my mom died from ovarian cancer. My grandma had died a year before that. My uncle just recently died.
I've been laid off from 3 different companies since the start of the Covid pandemic - even tho I got great praise and accolades for my work, despite all I've been dealing with.
Prior to that, a nasty custody battle depleted my funds and energy. Fortunately we managed to settle and resolve, but I was digging myself out from the massive debts *before* this past few years started to spiral.
I'm still fierce and determined to beat this cancer and come out on top.
The really good news is that my tumors are shrinking, according to my last CT scan. My cancer is rare and aggressive - the historic prognosis for someone with metastatic chromophobe renal cell carcinoma (mCRCC) is generally 5-6 months to live. I believe the research and actions I took are making all the difference.
I even made the news for going viral on tiktok to get my insurance company to do their job -- they tried to claim that removing my football-sized potentially-fatal tumor wasn't medically necessary. It's been a rough ride.
However, I need your help to keep fighting on and moving forward.
I'm in the interview process with a few different companies, but things aren't moving as fast as I need. My unemployment is not enough to cover my rent and my COBRA payment to cover my insurance - nevermind about things like food, gas, school supplies, etc.
We really depend upon our healthcare not only for fighting my cancer, but for ongoing therapy and other health needs... it's pretty messed up that it's so easy to lose.
I'm asking for your help - if you have extra that you can give - in allowing us to keep going forward and building a much better life, despite all the curve balls that we've been thrown.
