This is Shaun. He’s new in town, fresh from California, and already making a name for himself in our hiking group—not for his speed, not for his endurance, but for showing up to a 9-mile hike with… an 8-oz water bottle. Yes, the kind usually reserved for toddlers or hotel conference rooms.
Yes, you read that right. Everyone had their sturdy 32–40 oz bottles, some even packed extra. While the rest of us lugged around gallons like responsible adults, Shaun strolled in with the hydration plan of a preschooler at snack time.
Miraculously, he survived, barely.
But we can’t let this happen again. Shaun deserves better. We deserve better. And most importantly, Mother Nature deserves to witness Shaun carrying a water bottle that isn’t smaller than a juice box.
