Whoosher Girl: Time for Kindness

Book preview:

Hour by hour and through engaging rhymes, this superhero and her unicorn sidekick will encourage young readers to go about their day in a kind and caring way. Only time will tell if they can save the day!

Message from the Author:

Hi! I am Kendall (aka Whoosher Girl) and I just turned 7 years old.  Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week is September 19-25 which is the perfect time to ask for your support in getting a book published that I have written during the pandemic.

It is titled Whoosher Girl: “Time for Kindness” and is a story about a girl with superpowers.  I would like to use the profits of this project to support research for Leigh Syndrome, the mitochondrial disease that affects me and other children.  Because Leigh Syndrome is a rare disease and my gene is super-rare, my goal is to raise awareness and money to help researchers find a cure.

Please help me make a difference.  By purchasing this book and sharing it with others, you give hope to me and so many others who desperately want to imagine a life without mitochondrial disease.

What We Need & What You Get

We are hoping to raise $10,000 to publish this book, which includes editing, illustrating, publishing, e-book creation, marketing, publicizing and creating a website at WhoosherGirl.com, which has already been reserved.

While our goal is to fund life-saving research through the UMDF Kendall Conner Research Fund from the profits of this book, I’d also like to be able to donate some copies of my book to hospitals, doctor’s offices, libraries and schools so that other children can see that they can make a difference too!

Pre-Order Incentives

1.  In Your Hands!  With a $25.00 donation, you will receive a pre-order soft copy of the book.

2:  Frame It!  With a $50.00 donation, you will receive a pre-order soft copy of the book, Whoosher Girl bookmark and 8x10 print of the book cover art illustrated by Cyndi Golonka, who is also a mito warrior.

3.  1 For 1!  With a $100 donation, you will receive a pre-order soft copy of the book WITH author insignia, Whoosher Girl bookmark, 8x10 print of the book cover art illustrated by Cyndi Golonka, who is also a mito warrior and owner of the Gallery of Fine Art in Wilmington, NC, AND one copy donated in your name to a children’s hospital, doctor’s office, therapy clinic, school or library.

***Important Information ***

When making your donation/ pre-order, PLEASE ADD YOUR ADDRESS on the checkout page that says "Message" otherwise we will not know where to ship your book!

We hope to have the book published on or before Valentines Day 2022, which is Whoosher Girl's favorite holiday!

Other Ways You Can Help

If you can not purchase a pre-paid copy of book today, please SHARE OUR STORY with others on social media.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you ship?

We ship worldwide! Just keep in mind that it will take longer to ship outside the US, as well as the extra shipping costs.  If are outside the United States and would like to support this project, please email us at Hope4Kendall@gmail.com so that we can calculate the shipping and verify your address.

Can I donate without selecting a perk?

YES, Absolutely! You can enter any amount you would like to donate and just say "Donation Only" in the Notes Box at checkout.

Can I donate by sending a check?  YES, you can mail a check made out to "Whoosher Girl" c/o Taylor Conner, 109 Atkinson Road, Surf City, NC 28445

Why does Spotfund ask for a suggested donation at checkout?  Spotfund is different from Kickstarter because they do not charge extra fees to run this campaign and therefore all the donations, except for credit card charges go directly to the cause.  As a business model, Spotfund DOES solicit donations at checkout.  While Spotfund provides a suggested donation amount to their company, this box is fully customizable and you can select whether or not to give to Spotfund.

What is Whoosher Girl’s favorite condiment and does it give her superpowers?

Ranch Dressing and yes it gives her superpowers! Kids with mito need energy and therefore getting an adequate amount of calories is very important. 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing amounts to 120 calories and Whoosher Girl likes ranch on almost everything, including sweet potatoes:)
