My husband and I live in Clio, a very small town in Northern CA. (Population 46 and about 23 of those are dogs) We are sharing this post as we could really use some financial assistance in order to help us pay for our vet bill for our dear sweet Kaya. Anyone who knows us knows that for some reason Ray and I couldn't have children, so we ended up rescuing two very lovable dogs.. But, when it comes right down to it, our dogs really ended up rescuing us.
One of our dogs "Kaya" became quite ill a few days ago and was diagnosed with "Closed Pyometra" recently. Ray (my husband) and I ended up taking her to a veterinary hospital that could perform this surgery if necessary. So off we went...gently putting Kaya in our car and preparing for the almost 2 hour journey. As she lay dying in my lap on the way there, Ray and I prayed for some glimmer of hope.
Just to let you all know... sadly, there are only 2 hospitals near us that could perform this surgery if required... which, along with a vet who could get her in at that time was crucial. Time was of the essence. Fortunately, the Blue Pearl Vetrinary Hospital in Reno was able to perform this surgery. Thank God!
After all was said and done, we ended up with an extremely large vet bill $12,294.63 which is not uncommon when surgery is required. Sadly, we live on meager financial monies. I'm permamently disabled...both physically and mentally. I was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's last year and the bone in my hip joint is decaying. My husband is my caregiver and stays home taking care of me... which is no easy task.
Both of our dogs are a Great Pyrenees mix of some sort. Fortunately this breed turns out to be a wonderful and amazing breed of dog. Kaya, our youngest dog was the pet that became very sick. The hospital that we chose to take Kaya to is one of only 2 hospitals within an 80 mile range that could perform such a surgery which required removing her uterus and ovaries.
Once there, we found out that she did indeed need this immediate surgery to save her life. We were told later that night that we should create a gofundme account to help raise the much needed financial assistance necessary to help us with this bill. Sadly, we were only able to raise a fraction of what we needed from gofundme which as of now is $1,870.00 and that's a far cry from what we actually need. Last night, we thought to ourselves....how can you really put a price on a life for something that you hold so dear to your heart?
We could really use some much needed financial help with her expenses. If you could find it in your heart to help us out we would be greatly appreciative for any and all donations.
From the the bottom of our hearts.
