My name is Desia, and I’m a mother of two young boys in North Texas trying to keep my family stable while navigating a legal situation that has snowballed into a barrier against rebuilding our lives.
A few years ago, after being released while pregnant and homeless, I fell behind on court requirements tied to a deferred probation case in Collin County. I was surviving day to day while trying to stay safe and care for my children, and what started as technical violations eventually turned into warrants that now affect nearly every part of my life.
I am not facing new criminal charges.
But these unresolved legal issues are now blocking me from fully stabilizing my family. Without resolving them, I face barriers to transportation, employment opportunities, career training, returning to school, and securing long term housing before our current lease assistance ends.
My oldest son has autism and speech impairment and receives services and support that have changed his life. Protecting his stability, therapies, and progress is my highest priority. My youngest is still a toddler and thriving. Everything I do revolves around keeping both of my children safe, stable, and moving forward despite difficult circumstances.
I am actively trying to fix this the right way.
I’ve spent months researching workforce programs, educational paths, legal options, housing solutions, and community resources while caring for my children full time. I am not asking for a handout to avoid responsibility. I am asking for help removing the barriers preventing me from finally resolving everything and moving forward permanently.
