Help Disabled Veteran & Wife Rebuild Their Lives

Hello, my name is Mike and I never thought I would have to do something like this however, my wife and I are struggling and we're out of options. I have severe spinal injuries and am a disabled veteran, unable to work and my wife has a list of problems as well. As of 2022, I have had 3 spinal surgeries, 3 cervical (neck) and one low back and I have been suffering severe nerve damage for years and have been in severe constant pain. In 2022, the Fargo Veterans Administration found a "complicated and critical neurosurgeon". He came up with a plan for 3 surgeries in 3 days. He helped fix severe scoliosis, severe arthritis, 2 back fractures, several herniated disc's nerve decompression and a fusion from my t8 to pelvis fusion. On day one, they operated through my side and through my front abdomen. Day two I had tests and scans, then on day three they operated through by back.I had never experienced so much pain in my life and I literally wanted to die, I couldn't handle the amount of pain I was in and I was on the strongest pain medication allowed and it wasn't touching the pain I was in. As I recovered from those 3 surgeries, I was experiencing more pain than I was in before the surgeries. Over the next 11 months, I underwent a lot of testing, physical therapy, CT scans, MRI's, EMG's, etc. I also couldn't lay flat or sleep 😴 n my own bed. The surgeon told me that he saw the problem area and would need to fix it surgically . He said it would be much less invasive than the big surgery he just did and promised instant relief. He sent me in for one more EMG test because I am diabetic (insulin dependent type 2) and he wanted to rule out neuropathy since I was having immense leg pain and severe numbness. I do not have neuropathy so, it became nerve issues. He also found 2 screws loose that were pushing into my spinal cord and some of the other hardware had shifted.They scheduled my next appointment where the surgeon would go over the surgical plan and we'd actually schedule the date of surgery. On the day of that appointment the surgeon came into my room and informed me that he no longer had surgical priveliges and that he had issues his letter of resignation and was moving from Fargo, North Dakota to Cherry Hill, New Jersey to perform surgery at another hospital. I felt absolutely deflates and defeated as well as hopeless. I went back to the Fargo Veterans Administration and saw ñthe Neurologist and the search began for a new surgeon. He finally sent me to Midwest Spine and Brain. The surgeon did his own tests and scans and informed me that my spine was so bad, he would have to fix a lot of the hardware that was already in place and he would have to perform other nerve decompressions and he would have to extend my fusion to T4 to Pelvis. After that surgery was complete, he recommended that I hire an attorney and go after the previous surgeon for medical malpractice. He told me he had never seen such poor and careless work and the new damage along with the pre-existing damage, it was bad. I did call every attorney in the 5 state area and some from several states away. Fargo has a short statue of limitation. Although the surgeon was based in Minnesota, they had to go by where the surgery happened so, nothing came of that. After the surgery I started getting better, I was still in a lot of pain but nothing like it was before. I still couldn't lay down flat or sleep in a bed also. I had to have an CT scan to see how my spine was healing and they discovered a decent sized mass on my right kidney. After more testing, it was in fact kidney cancer. The VA found my the surgeon and they did a partial nephrectomy and removed almost half of my kidney. After the surgery, while walking my leg lost complete feeling and I fell and ended up breaking my back. Since that day, I have had another 5 spine surgeries, the last one was four months ago. My back is fractured again and the talk of yet another surgery looks. Someone filed the wrong paperwork from my last surgery and as a result, the VA denied payment which makes me responsible. I'm about to loose my 3rd VA benefits monthly disability check in a row which has devestated us. My appeal is in the process but I won't recover my 3 months of benefits. The sad part is every surgery done by Midwest Spine and Brain is pre-authorized before any surgery is performed. They covered all of the other surgeries so, this one wasn't supposed to be an issue. I still can't lay down flat or sleep in my bed so, I have to sleep in a recliner and my recliner is broken and so uncomfortable that I have severe sleep issues. The alternator went out on our car back in February and I haven't been able to afford to get it fixed, my tabs are expired and I lost my insurance and I have no way to get back and forth to medical appointments and I actually can't get anywhere for that matter. I have to use Walmart delivery for my groceries and if it wasn't for that, I don't know. My wife has a lot of medical issues and it's been almost a year since she has even left our apartment. We live on the second floor and both of our doctors told us that we need to find a first floor apartment. I truly hate to have to resort to trying a donation thing but with the amount I set as the goal, that would be enough gh to get my car fixed, get tabs and insurance so we can get to medical appointments, I could get a new chair that isn't broken so I can actually sleep, we can catch up on all of the bills we are behind and we can move to a first floor apartment and rent a moving truck. We have been in our current apartment for 20 years and we like it here but with my wife's severe diabetic neuropathy, sharquettes syndrome and other problems as well as my spine problems and nerve damage, her doctor and my surgeon and the VA insist it would be safer if we weren't on a second floor, it would catch us up on everything we are behind in and it would pay the necessary medical bills I am behind in.
