I have a cat that was recently diagnosed with diabetes. I started her on insulin less than a week ago. Two days ago, her gluclose number fell dramatically (hypoglycemia) and I rushed her to an Emergency Vet. They did some procedures and kept her overnight. I went back to the vet the next morning and the veterinary staff told me she had to get an ultrasound and they didnt have the needed equipment. They recommend another Emergency Vet. So I took my cat to that veterinaria. They ended up putting her into ICU. Her blood had Kytones and needed to have aggressive treatment to save her. She will have to stay in ICU for possibly a few days. So far my veterinary bill is getting beyond my means but I love my cat and don't want her to leave me. I'm hoping people can share what they can to help me save my cat.

Kylee had a hypoglycemia crisis last Thursday and was taken to an Emergency Vet in Hillsboro Oregon. The awesome vet staff did all they could do and stabilized Kylee. They referred her to the Dove Lewis Animal Hospital in Portland. Kylee has been in ICU since Friday. Today (Sunday) will be her third night there. Yesterday afternoon, the vet staff gave her 2 units of her normal long-lasting insulin after having an IV of short acting insulin. It caused another hypoglycemia incident. Her glucose got down to 50. They gave her more fluids and dextrose to pull her out of dangerous territory. Now they have to start over with finding the correct dosage for her, hence why she has to stay in ICU another night. I have never had any experience with diabetes. In cats or humans so this is all new to me. I know she will need consistent feeding and insulin shots when she finally gets home and it terrifies me since I will have to decide if she’s ate enough for the insulin shot to be safe.
