Hey, animal lovers! My name is Bridget, and I started this fundraiser on behalf of my cousin's family. Miss Molly was rescued as a pup by her parents after they moved in to their first apartment while dating. She was there when Tim proposed to Elizabeth with a Red Wings jersey, she was there when they bought their first home, and she was there as her loving human parents tried to expand their family to create more humans to give her love pats and feed her crumbs. She is their first baby. Unfortunatley, Molly started to grow a mass on her foreleg, which soon became concerning. Long story short, sweet Miss Molly is in need of a complete amputation of the limb due to the benign tumor invading her elbow joint. Due to the positioning of the mass, there is no simple excision possible and multiple veterinarians have advised taking the limb. Molly is in pain and as the tumor has ruptured, there is constant risk of infection. My cousin and her husband have already spent a hefty sum for Molly's care, medicines, biopsy and scans; the procedure, as quoted by multiple professionals, is expected to cost somewhere in the ballpark of $4,000. E & T are still paying off the hospital bills from the recent arrival of their handsome little son and this large expense is imaginably a tough pill to swallow. Molly still has a lot of life left. I might be biased, but she's "my girl" and my favorite she-dog. I feel horrible and want to help how I can to improve Molly's quality of life, relieve her pain, and ease her family's heartbreak in this situation. I love this little quirky lady dog, who awkwardly sniffs your ears, disputes the concept of personal space, and stares at you with her big ole brown eyes without blinking until you give in and squeeze her. I want to be able to keep her happy and healthy so that when my toddler goes over to visit, she can pat Molly's butt and scream PUPPY!!! while Molly gracefully accepts the intrusion.
I didn't tell my cousin I'm doing this yet, and I am willing to accept all her eye rolls while she tells me I'm ridiculous as long as it means we can help this dog, who I am totally calling Tripod Molly if we can afford her surgery. *love you, cousin!*
