On Sunday September 6, 2021 St. Philomena Parish went up in flames.
Multiple preschool classrooms were intentionally set on fire.
Although responders came within minutes, it was shocking to see the damage.
To hear that a fire was intentionally set in a place of worship, and classrooms where kids age 3-5 normally are present, was hard to hear.
Father Paul said, "We are open to hoping the good lord will touch a generous heart to help rebuild."
Thank the Lord no injuries were reported...but what if they were in Sunday school that afternoon?
There storage shed was also burnt....what was in it? Food they used to feed the homeless once a month.
I work for a property restoration company and we were called out to walk the site after the fire. I attended a catholic church in pearl city and experienced childhood at Sunday school. Then becoming an altar serving and later, a lecture.
Hearing about the fire alone was hard enough, but after going out to the site and hearing it was ARSON hit home for me.
I'm a local girl born and raised in Hawaii and know how strong our community is when we come together, why? Because we're the ALOHA state! As we work with insurance to work on Saint Philomena Church, I'm confident in asking all of you for help to show Father Paul and his parish are not alone.
Our state is the ALOHA state for a reason.
Although I don't attend this perish, I decided to start this go fund me page to show them how strong we can be when we support eachother and get through the tough times. Mahalo for your support.
Aloha, Kaylin
