Where's Batman?
Russ Heider AKA #86 BATMAN has been missing from some of our local 600 races at different tracks. Well wheres he been?
On Russ's 59 birthday this past April he and his wife were working on a piece of equipment, trying to get it started. The equipment caught itself and Russ on fire. Russ recieved pretty bad burns over his arms, chest, legs, and neck and was life flighted to the ER. His wife was thrown against a fence in this instance causing her a heart incident and she was rushed to the hospital too. Russ spent weeks in the hospital but is now resting and healing at home. He will be entering the hospital again soon for more surgeries.
Russ owns his own business and as a small business we know the hard truths about what happens when we can not physically do all the things that need to be done. He has been out of work for over a month and has 3 months to go. He is family to the racing community and it's time for us to help and support him and his family!
I spoke to Russ for a couple hours on Wednesday and throughout the conversation and MANY racing stories (maybe he misses racing a little bit!) He kept saying two things.
1. "I am so lucky and I really thank god that if it had to happen, it happened like it did."
2."I don't know what to say about the funraiser. I have never had to be on this side of one. Please let everyone know I truly appreciate everything"
