Hi all,
As you all know, my prostate cancer that we all thought to be in remission has sent a tendril into my bladder. In my bladder, unwatched by medical eyes, the cancer mutated into a very rare small cell bladder cancer; it took it's time but by the time the doctors discovered it, it has spread considerably. This cancer is in stage 4, with a five year survival rate of 7%.
As "luck" would have it, my new Oncologist (Dr. Wee) has been studying this particularly rare cancer at the Mayo Clinic (where he was before moving to Cleveland). I am signed up for a triple blind clinical trial that would include Keytruda (maybe you have seen the ads on T.V.) to a usual course of Chemo and one other drug.
I need reliable transportation to get to medical treatments and, I want to be able to give myself a little hope by continuing to sell Mid Century Modern Furniture.
The van I have pictured would be ideal; the back is gutted and the engine has been completely rebuilt, with only 18,500 miles on it! The van is $3000. I will need to get it looked over, repair anything, add a tow hitch and register it.
The sum I have asked for is a minimum but, as I am flat broke, anything above the total would be fantastic. I am going to cash in my Ohio Public Employees Retirement System account (since this is prior yp retirement age, I am only eligable to "cash out" the amount that I have paid in (no accrued interest). This process will take 3-4 months.
I am also going to apply for Social Security Disability (who knows if I will qualify or how long it will take).
I face a lengthy period with nearly no income, rent payments of $750 a month and storage unit rent of $800.
