Meet Yuki

Yuki is our 11-year-old teacup Maltese, and she’s been part of our family since the very beginning of our marriage. When we learned we weren’t able to have children, Yuki became our baby in every way that matters.

She’s tiny, gentle, and quietly expressive. She’s also the older sister to our other Maltese — even though she’s half the size.

A moment at home — Yuki and Hashi reminding us that even on hard days, love and noise still fill the room.

When Everything Changed

Recently, Yuki became critically ill without warning. What we thought might be a short veterinary visit quickly turned into an emergency ICU stay with round-the-clock monitoring, medications, and intensive care.

In just three days, her ICU costs reached over $7,000, and her care is still ongoing as she works to stabilize and recover.

During this time, her weight dropped rapidly:

  • from 5.2 lbs

  • to 4.7 lbs

  • to 4.1 lbs

Seeing someone so small fight so hard has been heartbreaking and humbling.

Why We’re Asking for Help

We never imagined using a platform like this. Asking for help doesn’t come easily to us.

But we couldn’t bear the thought of losing Sandy’s little girl if there was still a chance to help her heal. As long as Yuki keeps fighting, we want to do everything we can to support her.

Yuki’s dad is a nurse who had to stop working in 2023 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor and a rare nervous system disorder. While he can no longer work, those instincts never leave — and since Yuki came home from the ICU, we’ve been doing everything possible, together, to keep her comfortable, nourished, and safe.

How Your Support Helps

Funds raised will go directly toward:

  • emergency and ICU veterinary care

  • medications and follow-up visits

  • continued recovery support as Yuki regains strength

Any amount truly helps. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Yuki’s story also means more than you know.
