For the past year or so, off and on, I have been working on writing a children's book inspired by one of my young granddaughter's adorable Goldendoodle. I finished it and started looking into the possibility of getting it published. I submitted my manuscript to a few publishing companies and to my complete shock and surprise, I was notified that one of them wants to publish my book!! I am incredibly excited and dumbfounded! The reason I am setting up this donation page is because the company is a self publishing company. Here's the explanation of that:
I found that there are two types of publishing options; traditional or self publishing. Traditional means the company that picks up your book takes on all the expenses, but the author doesn't maintain creative control in most cases and the royalties and/or percentage of the sales is lower than self publishing. If a self publishing company picks up your manuscript, the author maintains full control while working with professionals on the entire process, plus gets a higher percentage of the sales, but the author has to come up with the money up front. So here I am hoping to get help to pay for my book to be published, something I never thought could happen in a million years! Thank for your time and I would sure love your support!
