Background
Russia's invasion of Ukraine has been shocking. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have fled the country, moving west in search of safety.
Martyna's dad and stepmom live in Poland and decided to do their part to help by driving to the Ukraine border and taking a Ukrainian family into their home. We're hoping to raise enough money to allow this family to start a new life in Poland.
The Family We're Helping
The Yakovenko family includes Natasza (mother, widowed) and her two children (17-year-old Ivan and 7-year-old Masza). Their home in eastern Ukraine burned down and they've fled to Poland.
There is an abundance of clothing and food donations for refugees like the Yakovenko family, but the main need from here is housing.
With the support of Martyna's family + the generosity of strangers like us, they can become independent, settle in Poland, take up work and continue their education.
They need support at the beginning of this long road, and we're raising $7,000. This is enough to rent a small apartment for a year and furnish the apartment with basics (beds, a fridge, etc.).
Martyna's family thinks this amount will be enough for them to get completely settled, find a job and continue living in Poland on their own.
Every dollar counts <3
