Help Me Save Our Historic Train Station & Give Her a New Life
Some buildings are more than wood, brick, windows and walls.
They are part of who we are.
This building has stood through generations of our community’s history. She began as our train station, welcoming people home and carrying them off to new places. Later, she became our post office, connecting families, neighbors and businesses.
She has spent her life serving this community.
And I don’t believe she’s finished yet.
My dream is to save this beautiful piece of our history and transform her into something our community can use every single day—a local grocery store and food destination.
I want to open those historic doors again and fill this building with life.
I envision groceries and everyday necessities on the shelves, fresh and locally produced foods, products from area farmers and small businesses, and prepared foods and meals for our community.
I want people to walk through these doors again.
I want neighbors talking in the aisles.
I want local farmers seeing what they’ve grown on our shelves.
I want families to have another place close to home where they can buy food.
I want to create jobs and opportunities.
And more than anything, I want to save her.
I’m Doing Everything I Can to Make This Happen
I am pursuing financing through the U.S. Department of Agriculture, along with other available lending and funding opportunities. I am prepared to take on loans, invest personally, and put in the work necessary to turn this dream into a sustainable business.
But financing will only take this project so far.
Restoring a historic building and converting it into a grocery store and food-service location comes with significant expenses beyond simply obtaining the property.
That’s where I need help.
I’m asking my community—and anyone who believes in preserving history, supporting local agriculture and rebuilding small-town businesses—to help me bridge that financial gap.
Contributions will help with building repairs and restoration, electrical and plumbing work, commercial refrigeration and freezers, kitchen equipment, grocery shelving and fixtures, accessibility and code requirements, permits and inspections, initial inventory, signage, and the many unexpected expenses that come with bringing an old building back to life.
I’m not asking the community to build this dream for me.
I’m asking you to help me get it across the finish line.
She Deserves Another Chapter
This building has already reinvented herself once.
Train station.
Post office.
And now, hopefully, a place that feeds her community.
There is something incredibly special about taking a building that was created to serve people generations ago and finding a way for it to serve people again today.
Instead of tearing down our history or watching it slowly disappear, we have an opportunity to preserve it by giving it purpose.
Someday, I want a child growing up here to remember going to the old train station with their family to pick up groceries or get something to eat.
I want someone who remembers this building as the post office to walk through those doors again and see her full of people.
And I want everyone who helps make this possible to be able to look at that building and say:
“We saved her.”
Help Me Put the Lights Back On
Every donation matters.
Every share matters.
Every person who tells someone else about this project brings us one step closer.
If you can’t contribute financially, please share our story. Send it to someone who remembers this building. Share it with someone who loves historic preservation. Tell a farmer, a small-business supporter, a former resident, or simply someone who believes small communities deserve investment too.
She carried passengers.
She carried our mail.
Now I want her to carry something else:
Our food.
Our local products.
Our farmers.
Our small businesses.
Our memories.
And our community into the future.
I am going to do everything I can to save her.
I’m just asking for a little help putting the lights back on. ❤️
