Meet King, a beautiful young Rottweiler who has been kept in a cage since his owner's got him. King is about 12 months old. Instead of running, playing, and learning what it feels like to be loved, King spends his life confined to a cage day after day, night after night, through the scorching Florida heat, rain, and changing weather.
King is not allowed out to run or play. He receives little human interaction and no affection. This is the only life he has ever known.
We have reached out for help. Animal control, police, and even PETA have been involved. Sadly, under current Florida law, as long as a dog has food, water, and shelter, this level of confinement is not considered abuse. That is heartbreaking. I am working to get that changed. It is not right!
I have contacted State Representative Rachel Plakon in hopes of pushing forward legislation to change this law. Time, however, is not on King’s side.
The owner has stated he will sell King for $3,000. As heartbreaking as it is, this may be the only way to save him from a lifetime behind bars.
Solitary confinement in our prisons is for some of our most hardened criminals who have committed horrific crimes, but King....King has done nothing to be put in solitary confinement.
If you are able to donate, share, or help in any way, you would be giving King something he has never had before: hope.
