In September 2003, a hand-reared eastern grey kangaroo named Lulu rescues her owner after he was knocked unconscious by a falling tree branch near Melbourne, Australia. Lulu "barked" like a dog for 15 minutes to alert the family, protecting the victim until medics arrived.
How many of you are aware that in America the third Friday in February since 2015 has been/is “National Caregivers Day?” Or the first Tuesday of April in Canada? In the US this day is mostly reserved for medical professionals such as nurse assistants, health aids, and nannies. North of the US it is more generalized to include paid and/or unpaid caregivers, family or not.
Starting now, we want to change that by organizing a FANTASTIGASMIC! event: Paean- a fireworks and drone show! to honor personal attendants’ tireless efforts around the world, in part by initiating legislation for such holidays to be paid time off (PTO) holidays!
We hope this communal celebration will literally spark a movement to add another day of rest to the calendar!
And that in doing so, it will raise awareness of and advocate for the health of nurturing unsung heroes- since they too, like parents and relatives, devote their time, energy, and compassion to look after/guide others.
Your support will cover the costs of the aerial show, event logistics, and marketing strategies to make this lofty vision a reality. We aim to advance, LITERALLY EXPLODE! dedicated poetry, songs of praise.. off the page onto the belly of night's sky
