In November 2021 I purchased a vehicle from a car dealership. At the time it was 4 years old with around 50k miles. I have two daughters and needed a reliable vehicle that would last us. From the first few days of owning it, it has been problems and bad luck. We took the vehicle home on a Thursday. That Saturday evening, I was rear ended while driving down the interstate. The driver was drunk but was not given a field sobriety test, they gave an insurance that was not valid or in their name, the officer that handled the accident quit his job hours after it happened. It took months for the repairs to be finished. The vehicle has a power train warranty that requires the dealership to do the servicing. About 40% of the oil changes done there were messed up, wrong oil put in, coolant levels not checked, windshield wipers marked good even with chunks of rubber falling off, tying to be sold things that I didn’t need. In one instance they didn’t even change the oil at all. In October 2024 the car broke down on the side of the road. The entire engine had to be replaced. While replacing the engine they broke the computer that starts the car and links to the key fob. I didn’t not get my vehicle back until mid March of 2025. I recently got my oil changed on Monday, 9/8 and they overfilled the oiled by a lot. It was reported to them and they claim to have fixed it. on Friday 9/12/2025 the car broke down again an hour and half from home, on a 95 degree day. This car has caused me so much stress. It was pitches in Nov 2021 for $28,000. Less than four years later they are willing to give me less than $3500 for this car that they sold me and have done terrible service on. I still owe $13,000 on this car. I have a full time job and two children. I cannot pay off this car and they’re not going to give me enough to pay it off but have to get something that isn’t going to leave us stranded. I cannot afford to add that extra onto a new car payment, or even afford a vehicle expensive enough for them to, in their words, “make up the difference” to even trade it in. I need help!
