To our community,

It started with a text on Monday, October 27th, 2025. “Guys, Jess got in an accident on her bike. I’m heading to the emergency room now.” Her father, Luciano, was the first to hear that Jessica was in a motorcycle accident. After over an hour of waiting to hear from her, he was instead notified by the Milwaukee County Sheriff that his beloved oldest daughter was in an accident on the freeway.

Jessica survived the accident, and we are eternally grateful that she wore her helmet and leathers. I, Cecilia, her younger sister, want to share the impact of the accident because she was thrown from her bike, sustaining severe brain injuries. Her helmet saved her life, but left her with a fractured skull, brain bleeds, a concussion, and a broken elbow. She is enduring daily pain, causing her to be sedated, along with restraints to prevent her from removing her IVs and feeding tube. The brain injuries initially impacted her ability to give coherent speech, disorientation to time/place, and hyper fixation that she was still in danger. Four days into her recovery, she started physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. There is hope she will be moved out of the neuro-ICU, but time will tell.

As a source of serenity and light, Jessica is known and loved by many. She is a mother of four —Gabby, 23 (a first-year student at Palmer College of Chiropractic), Isaac, 19 (Private First Class, Army), Lucia, 17 (recent high school graduate), and Mateo, 7 (turning 8 in two weeks). Additionally, she is a dog mom to a high-energy pup named Smokey. Her ex-husband, David, shoulders the navigation of solo parenting while Martha, her mother, spearheads her medical updates and care coordination with love and devotion. Her father, siblings, and extended family have rallied around her to ensure she receives the best care and outcomes.

Many of you, like us, feel helpless in this situation. As a proud owner of a successful massage therapy practice and instructor through the YMCA, she will face unemployment for approximately four months. Jessica's income is heavily dependent on her physical wellness, which will not be restored for many months.

Our family is devastated and trying our hardest to pick up the pieces of this accident. Unfortunately, costs are rising and bills are coming in. Jessica’s rent for her business was due this week, as well as the rent for her apartment. Despite the family already contributing monetarily for immediate needs, we are asking for help in meeting Jessica’s financial burden.

Your support will go towards-

  • Loss of income to cover Jessica’s monthly expenses, including her massage practice

  • Surgery and hospital expenses

  • Post-discharge adaptive equipment

  • Pursuing legal action, if possible

It’s not easy to ask for help. We are so grateful for all of the support and prayers in Jessica’s recovery. Any support is appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story and donating to Jess.

Fundraiser Updates (3)

Dear friends and family,

We’ve received some updates regarding Jessica’s accident. While the investigation is still ongoing, recent findings suggest the crash was likely caused by a chain reaction from hazardous conditions on the highway — not a hit-and-run, as initially believed.

We’re deeply grateful for the Good Samaritans who stopped to help her until paramedics arrived. ❤️

Jessica remains in the hospital, and while recovery continues, she’s alive, she’s fighting, and she’s growing stronger every day.

Jessica has milestones she needs to reach before she can be transferred to inpatient rehabilitation. Some of the milestones are being caloric independent from the NG tube. Once she can manage solids, her NG tube will be removed. She needs to be able to walk more, with separation sessions between OT/PT as they are currently paired. She will remain in rehabilitation for several weeks before she is discharged home.

Thank you all for your love, prayers, and support — it means the world to us.

Update Nov 5th

Thank you all for checking in and loving Jessica the way you love your own families

We are a full week of hospitalization. She’s made great progress but still has a long way to go. She is restrained when left unattended and is using the bathroom on her own. She requires a great deal of assistance in getting out of her bed. She is heavily reliant on the NG tube, though she graduated from liquids to puréed food. Jessica’s strength shows in the brief moments she isn’t asleep. Her memory is slowly improving. She can tap into her Spanish skills and recall details of her life.

Currently, there is concern about blood clotting in her jugular vein, which was identified on a recent CT scan.

*11/2/25 update

Thank you all so much! We are blown away by the amount of generosity and support from you all. We are more than 65% towards our goal.

Jessica finally reached a point where she is stable enough to be out of the ICU. We are encouraged by this development as it signals that she is less critical. Her challenges continue, however, due to swelling in the brain, pain, and mood management.

She continues to work with speech therapists to progress from liquids to solids. PT and OT are helping her sit at the edge of her bed and stand for a few minutes. Jessica's brain is heavily bruised in the front lobe, causing temporary personality changes, aphasia, and disorientation. As swelling and bleeding improve, she will be more of herself. For now, she needs lots of rest and low stimulation. We have been focused on providing as much of a calm, quiet, and peaceful environment with the least amount of disruption.

Her struggles are difficult to witness. She becomes agitated knowing others are in the room but not "freeing her" from her restraints. This is incredibly difficult to see as she cannot understand why she needs the IVs and NG-tube. While she is not in a position to receive visitors, the amount of support that she continues to receive from family, friends, and her community at large no doubt transcends through to her subconscious and encourages her to keep fighting and keep healing.

We thank you all for your love and support. Really and truly. Your love has been overwhelming.
