Three years ago, I hit rock bottom on a couch at 4 a.m. Shaking from a near-overdose and trapped in a cycle of addiction and survival sex work, I finally asked why I kept expecting different results. In that moment of helplessness, God didn’t scold me; He held me. I felt a love so deep it sparked a resurrection of my identity.
The title of my album, Grave-Clothes, stems from the story of Lazarus. When Jesus raised him, He commanded the crowd to "take off the grave-clothes and let him go." I realized that while I was spiritually born again, I was still wearing the "garments" of my old life because I didn't know what to put on instead. Confused by conflicting advice and religious rhetoric, I finally stopped debating the Word and started looking at God’s movement in my life.
I surrendered my life to a "Big God" who weeps for my pain and rescues the "hopeless." This album is the journey of that surrender. It explores the messy, nuanced reality of finding sobriety, femininity, and authority in Christ. From the struggle of career comparisons in "Running on E" to the radical forgiveness of abusers, these songs reflect a faith that is unapologetic and real.
I am recording this album at the highest quality to ensure its reach. It’s not just music; it’s a vessel to show the world that God’s love is compassionate, not cruel. I’m walking this path—sometimes like a "baby giraffe with new legs"—but I’m walking it for His glory.
Help me make Him known.
