Many know Linda Lauby as a champion of the Outer Banks and its people. Through her words, camera lens and artwork Linda has recorded the wild, windswept beauty of our beaches and documented the talents and passions of our community members for nearly 30 years.
Her award-winning magazine The Edge Outer Banks recounted life on these barrier islands and captured the uniqueness of our area as never before. As owner of Outer Banks Press, Linda has helped give her fellow artists a voice and has advanced their own work.
When Linda decided we on the Outer Banks needed a Winged Horse Extravaganza to coincide with the centennial of flight, we got it. Local businesses and art communities came together to purchase and transform more than 100 life-size fiberglass winged horses into works of art. They brightened businesses and beaches for several years and were then auctioned to raise thousands of dollars in support of a number of local charities and non-profits.
Linda is so much to so many of us - writer, publisher, artist, daughter, sister, partner, friend, observer, foodie, pun master, lover of laughter, dog mom par excellence.
Now it is our turn to champion Linda as she takes up her latest role of breast cancer survivor. As anyone who has battled cancer knows, the process is not just mentally and emotionally draining, it can also be financially devastating.
