Hello, kind hearts,
My name is Thissara Dhananjaya, and with me is my beloved sister, Waruni Wathsala. From the day we were born, both of us have been living with a rare and painful genetic skin condition. Doctors have explained that this is due to our parents being blood relatives.
For us, sunlight is not a source of warmth, but a source of agony. We can't step outside, walk freely, go to school, or play with friends like others do. The moment the sun's rays touch our skin, it feels like it's burning, causing unbearable pain and blisters. Our lives are confined to the four walls of our home, watching the world go by from a distance.
However, there is a small ray of hope for us – a special medicated cream. When we apply this cream, it creates a protective barrier on our skin, allowing us to go outside for a short while to take care of our basic needs. That brief moment of freedom, that short time without pain, is priceless to us.
Unfortunately, we face two major challenges. Firstly, this essential cream is very expensive, and our family simply cannot afford it. We live in a very remote and underdeveloped village, and we have no financial means to cover this recurring cost. Secondly, our remote location makes travel extremely difficult. We don't even have a vehicle to travel to the city to purchase the medication.
Today, I am reaching out to you with a humble and desperate plea. Please help my sister and me raise the funds needed to buy this life-changing cream. Any contribution, no matter how small, will directly help us live a day without excruciating pain and give us a chance to experience the world outside.
Your compassion and generosity can bring light into our shadowed lives. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and for helping us in our fight for a normal life.
Thank you so much!
