My name is Javan. I am a disabled woman trying to take the National Counseling Exam (NCE). This is an extremely hard and expensive test that one must take in order to become a licensed counselor legally. It’s been a struggle getting money to pay for the exam with everything going on in society, not being able to work, and all the hurdles I’ve had to go through regarding it. I’ve been out of school for a couple years since graduating. Due to personal and financial struggles, it’s been hard to take the NCE.
I’ve been around counselors throughout my education and journey and truly believe it’s my turn to give back! I can’t explain why sitting and listening and working things through, helping people, brings me so much joy! Seeing glimmers of hope in their smiles and breakthrough in their eyes makes all the turmoil and struggle worth it! I don’t only see it as a profession but a calling to help others in this way! I humbly ask for all the wonderful souls out there to help me be a help to others! Thank you!
