Interpretation is one the keys to helping people develop environmental understanding and awareness.
As an environmental interpretator, we offer a voice to the natural wonders around us.
But the field of interpretation is always developing new methods to do this. One of those methods is through non-personal interpretive media. Developing exhibits and materials for people to read and understand increase understanding and appreciation for the nature around us.
As a budding environmental interpretator, I would love to develop my interpretation methods further and there is an opportunity for me to do so through Eppley Institute.
The Intermediate Methods of Interpretation is a web-based certification program that offers 5 different courses that between Janurary to June. This certification program will benefit my career by expanding my knowledge base, but will also enhance my understanding and practice in areas such as interpretive writing, designing interpretive media, and dialogic interpretation.
The certification also offers a co-hort program that will allow me to work closely with a highly skilled interpretive mentor.
The big problem is that it costs $350. As someone who works seasonally and essentially lives paycheck to paycheck, this cost seems almost impossible for me to afford alone. So that's why I'm reaching out for help. I'm not expecting anyone to help but if you can, I would GREATLY appreciate it.
I love interpretation. I graduated college having no idea this field existed and after working as an interpretive park guide for 2 seasons, I fell in love with it. My desire to design and execute exciting and engaging interpretive programs and tables is what pushed me to pursue this certification. I want to push my potential as far as I can, but in order to do that, I need to push my education further.
