On Thanksgiving of 2022, my mom, Darla, was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer which had metastasized to her liver. In the time since, she has been tirelessly fighting it with countless surgeries, nine rounds of chemo, and five rounds of radiation. Now, as of August of 2026, she was told the last pesky tumor that's taken up residence deep in her liver in a spot that is inoperable and resistant to any more chemo and radiation.
While the stubborn tumor refuses to respond to the initial round of treatment, there is still hope. However, with my dad and I being the only ones with full time jobs and still paying off student loans, my sister going off to college next week, and the insurance not covering the treatment, the $75,000 price tag is a tad scary. That's why I'm reaching out to everyone for support in any way you can offer. Whether its prayers and positive thoughts or a donation, my family and I are forever grateful for whatever way you can contribute!
Our spirits are high over here and we are confident that with this treatment, the cancer won't win this time. Even though a number of my other family members have lost the battle to other various cancers in the past, I never thought it was a possibility for it to worm its way into my direct family, let alone into the person who has been there for me every second of every day - even through the lowest points of her own life. So if you are at all able, please help my mom see the day when she can say she is cancer free and make a donation for the treatment that will save her life.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those that are dealing with something similar, and any excess funds will be further donated to their cause and other cancer research or families in need.
