Help a U.S. Army Veteran & Mom of 3 Rebuild Stability
Hello,
My name is Brittany, and I’m a proud U.S. Army Veteran and mother to three amazing children. After recently ending a 14-year marriage, I set out on a mission to build a better, more stable life for my kids — one full of hope, love, and proof that with faith and hard work, anything is possible.
We moved into a beautiful 3-bedroom home, and for the first time in a long time, I felt excited to show my kids that I could do this on my own. At the time, I was working as an assistant manager at Rite Aid. Unfortunately, after their bankruptcy, I was one of the many let go.
Determined to keep going, I quickly found another job. While I’m grateful to be working, the income is significantly less, and over time I began falling behind on rent. I tried everything — paid in portions, communicated constantly with my property manager — but eventually, Authority Property Management began reporting my payments as delinquent.
In an effort to avoid eviction, I made the difficult decision to move out. Now, I’m staying at a Motel 6 with my kids, trying to keep life as normal as possible for them while I work, pay bills, and save every penny. Sadly, no one will rent to me until I clear the $2,100 balance owed to my previous landlord.
I’ve reached out to local and veteran support organizations, but because I don’t fit into certain categories (unemployed, dealing with domestic violence, substance abuse, or legal trouble), I’ve been told I don’t qualify for help. It’s a tough pill to swallow — doing everything “right” and still falling through the cracks.
I’m not asking for money for myself — I’m asking for help so my kids can have a stable home again. If you would like to donate directly to Authority Property Management to help me clear this balance, please feel free to reach out. I’m keeping personal details private for the safety of my children and due to my current role with the county.
If you’ve ever been in a place where life just hits all at once, you understand how much something like this can mean. Every dollar helps us get one step closer to stability and the next chapter of our journey.
