We lost Dr. Jed Val Santiago to mental health illness on 4/6/2024. He leaves behind 3 children - Simona, Alessandro, and Eliana, as well as his widow, Kimberly Santiago.
Jed did not maintain his life insurance policy, letting it lapse while he was in midst of his acute, almost 2-year battle.
There are several ways you can offer support to Jed's family:
-
Financial Assistance: financial support for the family to cover immediate expenses and provide for the children's future needs.
-
Emotional Support: Being there for Kimberly and the children emotionally.
-
Practical Support: Help organize meals, transportation, playdates/sleepovers for the children to alleviate some of the burdens on the family during this period of grief and adjustment.
-
Community Outreach: Spread the word within your community, workplace, or social circles about ways to support Jed's family. Sometimes, people are willing to help but may not know how to do so effectively.
-
Advocacy for Mental Health Awareness: Use Jed's story as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the need for support systems for individuals facing mental health challenges. This can help reduce stigma and encourage others to seek help when needed.
It's heartening to see your concern for Jed's family, and your efforts to support them will surely be appreciated during this challenging time.
