I am a first-generation Latina college student majoring in Economics, with minors in Management and French. My journey through college has been filled with determination, but also with financial challenges that make it difficult to fully experience and succeed in my academic life. This semester, I couldn’t afford a textbook and had to rely on public sources, which wasn’t efficient. Unfortunately, this isn’t a one-time issue—it happens every semester because I simply can’t afford the materials I need. This constant struggle makes it harder to focus on my studies and reach my fullest potential, and it also means missing out on the college experience that my peers enjoy.

Financial support would make a meaningful difference in my college experience by easing both academic and everyday financial pressures. It would help me afford essential resources like textbooks and course materials without having to worry about cutting corners or falling behind. It would also contribute toward tuition and allow me to consider opportunities like summer courses, which I need to take this summer to stay on track academically. Beyond academics, financial support would relieve day-to-day expenses such as transportation, food, and personal necessities, giving me more stability and peace of mind. This would allow me to focus more fully on my studies, extracurricular involvement, and professional development—rather than constantly balancing financial stress.
