On July 4th, while many Americans were grilling, swimming and shooting off fireworks, the Aspen Acres Fire tore through Rye, CO and destroyed the home of my best friend's family, as well as her mother's. They are now displaced, along with their dogs, cats, chickens, peacocks (you read that right) and horses. Kat and her family just want to go home, but like most folks, they don't have "start over from scratch" money, and Kat is unable to return to work due to evacuation.
The goal is to get them to $250,000 to cover the cost of a new home, furniture, clothes, appliances and any day to day things while they start over.
