20-year-old model Winnie Harlow turned heads on the runways at New York Fashion Week for Spanish designer Desigual.
What's noteworthy about Harlow is that she did so while living with vitiligo, a condition characterized by the loss of pigment in patterns across the skin. Vitiligo patches often start small, before growing in size over time.
Harlow is proof that the world is hungry for a fashion icon that doesn't look like a cookie-cutter copy of every other runway model.
But for many people living with vitiligo - particularly children - the experience isn't always as positive. The American Vitiligo Research Foundation provides public awareness about vitiligo through dedicated work, education and counseling. You can help promote awareness of vitiligo by donating today.
