I'm the divorced and disabled father of a bright and cheerful 4th grader. Since her mother and I separated I have been without access to an automobile, which wasn't a real problem since there are some buses to ride in the city. I made it a point to find a nice apartment with a room for my daughter that was on a busline and everything has been functioning well as far as being able to pick her up from school, take her to her Girl Scout meetings, and so forth.
Now there is a problem: my rent is being raised in December. Since I live on a fixed income and I was really spending nearly all of my SSDI on rent, I am forced to move a little farther away. I have found a place that is affordable and comfortable, but there is no public transit there. my only solution is to buy a car.
These shocks to the system are familiar to many, I konw. I haven't had savings since everything got used up during my last move, and I find very little side work to supplement my small income. My only resort is this attempt at crowdfunding, to gather together enough assistance for a down payment on a very modest used car. Without the vehicle I will be unable to reach my daughter's home in the city without great expense. Your assistance will help keep my little family together.
