Yes, *spotfund is really free! We offer a 0% platform fee so that organizers can keep 100% of their donations. Please note that credit card processing companies will take the universally standard 2.9% plus 30 cents from the transaction before it reaches the beneficiaries. For example if someone donates $500 you will receive $485.20 after CC processing fees. International transactions have a 3.9% plus 30 cent fee.

How do I share to Instagram?

From your mobile phone, click "Share to Instagram" from the campaign page and you'll be given a selection of auto generated images to post to your Instagram. Are my donations subject to taxation?

Great news! In the United States, the IRS generally considers personal crowdfunding contributions "personal gifts" which should not be considered taxable income to the beneficiary in most cases. Our Terms and Conditions strictly prohibit campaigns that offer goods or services in exchange for donations. Please consult with a tax professional if you have any concerns, or if you believe contributions to your campaign would be considered income in your specific case. We will not report your funds raised as earned income.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Personal crowdfunding donations are not tax deductible for donors. Only donations to verified 501(c)(3) nonprofit campaigns can be considered for a donor tax deduction. This will clearly be stated on the campaign and on the donation email receipt.

Yes, there is an option to have your donations be private and not shown on the platform. Just check the box that says 'Hide my name' when completing your donation.

You can request a withdrawal at any time. Withdrawing money does not affect the goal progress or reduce the amount of dollars displayed displayed on your campaign.

You can record donations that you have received outside of *spotfund so your story reflects your complete fundraising total. From your dashboard, find your active campaign and click Update >> Add offline donation.
