On May 13, 2020. A very large tree limb was pulled down onto my head .. I was airlifted to morristown hospital with c7 spinal cord injury .. paralyzed from my waist down. Was on a vent for 12 days. Spent may 13th 2020 till jun8th in morristown and was transferred to Kessler rehab until July 17th. Was sent home with basic skills on how to handle wheelchair life . In morristown developed a pressure sore , had shingles, blood clots in my leg . My only nutrition was thru a tube.. needless to say care was subpar. The visiting nurses that cared for me at home did not care for the sore properly . It got bigger and deeper and the infection went into the bone. I spent the next 4 months in the hospital with this gapping hole in my back going from rehab to rehab for woundcare battling infection and species. Finally in November they did a muscle flap and closed the hole. It took another 8 weeks to heal. This all happened during covid so medical care was very difficult. My 26 year old son was my caretaker and still is to this day . Medical bills are astronomical.. we are doing the best we can but have fallen behind on all bills and expenses. And I cannot work. I have no transportation other than by ambulance. Now I am loosing my house which is handicapped excessible . I never received much therapy because Medicare has many restrictions. And self pay was not a option.
