Dear Friends,
My name is Dr. Svetlana Pilyugina (Dr. P), I am a Retina Specialist at the Assil Eye Institute. All of you have seen the tragic events in Ukraine, my homeland (I was born and raised in Odessa and my parents are still there now…) The unfolding devastation is unthinkable, my heart breaks, and in an effort to help I’ve organized a drive for donations of humanitarian and medical support items to Ukraine called “NADIYA” — which means “HOPE” in Ukrainian.
Today, I am asking you for your help.
The most immediate need in Ukraine is the severe shortage of medical supplies, especially items for trauma and injury care. We are working tirelessly around the clock to procure these supplies and organize their efficient and urgent delivery to the distribution centers on the ground in Ukraine.
Our team has already sent two 26-foot trucks of humanitarian aid, just from the generous support from our patients and doctors – and the first aircraft of donations has already arrived at the Ukraine/Poland border. We have over 30 pallets of supplies waiting to be transported, and the collection continues.
In this effort with have partnered with the Ukrainian Culture Center of Los Angeles, Ukrainian Shipping company MEEST, and are fortunate to have support of Los Angeles Mission, United Rescue Mission and other organizations.
In doing this work, we are witnessing the best of humanity and the power of people coming together to help other people in crisis. We hope you can join us in this effort.
No contribution is too small. $10 buys supplies for a medical aid kit that can save someone’s life, which our volunteers are continuously making. Another $10 can take 4 lbs of medical supplies to Ukraine by aircraft. And when combined with those of other donors, your gift becomes a powerful means to send help so urgently needed.
From the bottom of my heart – and on behalf of the Ukrainian people – THANK YOU! 🇺🇦
Svetlana “Dr P” Pilyugina
